GPS Sunburn

An excellent report by GPS World on the 2011 European Navigation Conference that ended on the 1st Dec 2011 detailed several threats to GPS - or GNSS as it is becoming more known by since Russia's GLONASS system reached full capability in Aug-Oct 2011 and the EU's EGNOS augmentation service was certified in mid-2010. One significant threat seems to be increasing solar activity, which would be disappointing if it does occur, given the nice improvements in service that us near the Equator have been benefiting from (more NavStar GPS satellites up and very dependable fixes with help from WAAS/EGNOS).
